Cautious Optimism

At its open meeting on August 26, 2020, the Rollingwood City Council discussed the comprehensive development planning process and the three development scenarios proposed by the City's hired consultant. Although the Council did not take any action or vote, several Council members did indicate that they would not support the two most intensive upzoning plans proposed by the City's consultant. Council members also suggested that the process will be slowed down, and that it should be citizen driven with the potential use of focus groups that would include affected residents. Finally, it was suggested that Council members would communicate these preferences to the City consultant tasked with drawing up the proposed plan.

We are very grateful for the Council's suggestions and statements tonight. Although it's far too early to celebrate (and way too early to take down those "Save Rollingwood" signs), we are cautiously optimistic that the tide is drifting away from the proposals that would have most dramatically altered Rollingwood and harmed our friends and neighbors.

We will continue to keep you posted. Thanks for being a part of this effort.
